Folded Paper Book

I started with very large paper (12"x18") and folded it to 4 1/2"x6".  On the cover I used Hero Arts Stamps and Studio 490.

Where there is colored paper I plan to put photos.

The flourish and lines are a Stampabilities stamp.

The paper is glossy and hard to stamp on because it will smear if not given enough time to dry. I hardly ever have the patience to wait. These two pages especially had to be adjusted to cover the smears.

Fold into 8 section and cut as shown.

Pinch the center folds and pull away from the center.

The pages start to form and a book emerges.

Two pages are floppy because they are folded at the top and the sides are edges. I like to glue these pages together or in this case I used tabs to keep the pages looking neat. Hopefully this makes sense.

Simple Mini Books

The two books in the picture are just two of the many I made. They measure 3"x3", so you can get three books from two 12"x12" papers. The binding is a simple stitch using a sturdy thread  (linen thread in this case). Fun to make and the project goes quickly.

Embellished Image

I'm new to paper crafting and love to learn new things. Some days I'm all over the map doing a little of this and that and not much of any one thing. The image is stamped on card stock and colored. The clear transparency was lightly dabbed with alcohol ink. The project emerged because I wanted to play with alcohol ink and making flowers out of crinoline. Learned a lot and of course would do it differently is I did a second one.

Bird Cage

Using Tim Holtz Bird Cage die I cut two cages and glued them together. Using Perfect Pearls and Ink Refresher it gave the paper cage a metal look. The bird is cut from Graphic 45 paper and the flowers are again cut with Tim Holtz Tattered Floral die.

Picture Frame

This is Clara, my youngest granddaughter. When I saw this picture I knew exactly what I wanted to do. Michael's sells unfinished wood frames for $1.00.

The frame was painted black. Black Bazzill Dotted Swiss paper was cut out and glued to the front. 

Then the frame was decorated with the paper flowers I showed using Tim Holtz's flower die and Distress Inks.

Tattered Floral Dies

Love Tim Holtz's Tattered Floral Die! I started experimenting with different papers plain and patterned. After a series of tries I resorted to using white card stock (have lots on hand) and Distress Inks to create the flowers above. Using each die separately and in combinations of two I was able to make very different flowers. Leaves were stamped using Studio 490 stamps.

Romantic Cards

In June I did a card class using Graphic 45 paper. Love the Le' Romantique Collection. These cards are on the large size 5"x6" and 6"x6". 

Adore Mini Album

Wanting to showcase 2 of my 3 beautiful granddaughters I chose a Maya Road mini chipboard album. Using paint, Melissa Frances and 7 gypsies (6x6) paper each page was covered.

This page has a piece of lace over the M.F. paper with the picture mounted on the lace. A Maya Road crystal dangles from this page.

The swirls, wings, birds, and crowns were covered with Distress Stickes (Rock Candy) after being painted white. The effect was soft and very pretty but unfortunately does not show up in the picture.

Look closely at the picture. You will see my grandson Sean laying across my sons lap patiently waiting for the girls to finish trying on pretty dresses. The challenge on this page was pleating the ribbon. I ended up using Fabric-tac.

This was a fun book to put together. My goal was to make it look as femine as Megan and Alayna.
